Backwell House, Bristol
BIG NEWS! To celebrate our very first year of being open, we're having a HUGE New Years Eve party in collaboration with Tipi Events & Diplomats of Sound! We've got Bristol legend DJ Cheeba and one of the hottest afro-funk bands around - Matuki - for the party of the century!
DJ Cheeba hardly needs an introduction - he's one of the most progressive audio visual artists around, and has found an audience worldwide with his unique style of turntablism and video manipulation.
Matuki are a 12-piece afro-funk band who have fused the best of Nigerian afrobeat and taken it to a whole new level with psychedelic elements and huge bass lines. They are firm festival favourites having played Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Farmfest, Kendal Calling and Green Man.
Both bands are on the highly-acclaimed Diplomats of Sound roster - the sister company of Chai Wallahs - a venue you'll know well if you go to the festivals!
The dancing, drinking and merriment will take place under the canopy of beautiful, cosy nordic tipis. You'll be greeted with a glass of fizz on arrival and there will also be a hog roast (and vegetarian alternative).
Legend has it that counting in the new year at Backwell House will bring you luck, prosperity and dashing good looks for a whole year following!
There will be bedrooms for the lucky few, and the house will be open too - including our magical Apple Barrel Bar. We'll be arranging coaches to bring you to the party, and back to town at 2am.
Tickets: £30 + BF (including a glass of prosecco)
Coach both ways from central Bristol: £10 per person
